Heart Opening Meditation

There are seven energetic centers in the body known as chakras. The fourth or heart chakra is the balance between the primal body (the three chakras below the heart) and the spiritual body (the three chakras above the heart). You can do a self assessment by determining from the list of symptoms below if your heart chakra is out of balance. If you have feelings of love, compassion, confidence, inspiration, and hope then your heart chakra is open and balanced. If you are experiencing fear, rejection, jealously, envy, or anger then you most likely have a blocked heart chakra. A heart opening meditation can begin to open and heal a wounded heart.
  • Find a comfortable seat or lay down in savasana
  • Close your eyes and begin to turn your attention inward
  • Breath in and out through your heart center
  • Begin to calm and lengthen the breath
  • Notice if anything arises from the heart, certain feelings or words that may automatically pop up
  • Next say to yourself 'May I experience peace, good health, and an abundance of love'
  • Listen and feel what your heart has to say
  • Now say the same statement above but offer it out to those closest to your heart. For example, 'May my (significant other, brother, sister, daughter, etc.) experience peace, good health, and an abundance of love'
  • Once you feel complete then broaden your circle of love to a stranger, a difficult person, and eventually the planet
  • Sit in silence, feel and listen to what your heart has to say
Feel free to do this practice whenever you are feeling disconnected from those around you.

Happy Meditating,
Namaste~
